Supports Fair Pay Act: women still earn 77% of what men earn

Bruce Lunsford released this statement regarding today's vote in the U.S. Senate on the Ledbetter Fair Pay Act (H.R. 2831).

"I am very disheartened by McConnell's vote today against equity in the workplace. This is another item on a long list of obstructionist votes made by our current Senator. The Ledbetter Fair Pay Act is common sense legislation that will improve fairness and accountability among employers and will help Kentucky's working families make ends meet in an already struggling economy.

"Women make 77 cents for every dollar a man makes, on average. It's hard enough to stretch a dollar as it is, imagine how much of a difference the additional income from ensuring equal pay for equal work could make for so many folks. McConnell's vote against this legislation is further proof of how out of touch he is with his constituents."

MLK's message is as relevant today as it was in 1960s

The following is a statement from U.S. Senate candidate Bruce Lunsford, regarding the 40th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

"The loss of a truly courageous leader like Dr. King is a loss that is never forgotten. His words and the spirit of his message is as relevant today as it was when he was alive. Dr. King's assassination was a tragic loss for the entire country. This nation is stronger and wiser because of Dr. King's contributions. We owe him our great thanks. "
